Parenting is undoubtedly a tough job that comes with a lot of responsibility, but is it the hardest job in the world. Really?
This throwaway comment is the topic of Whiny Wednesday this week. What are your feelings on this?
“Parenting is the hardest job in the world”
It is such an arrogant, assumptive comment for someone to make. Who says parenting is hard? Non-parents looking in, relatives of parents who are humble bragging, or the parents themselves having a moment of self-pity? There are so many jobs with huge responsibility for others, or difficult decisions that have to be made. No one has a monopoly on the “hardest job”.
I think it is often said as a brag. I wounder if they would chose to be childless instead and go through all that pain for the rest of their life without any of the joy a child brings.
What’s that old saying? “When you love your job you’ll never work a day in your life.”
Along the same line #momlife always makes me throw up a little in my mouth. Such a grab for attention and sympathy.
