Happy Halloween?

October 31, 2010

It just occurred to me. If all the parents are out trick-or-treating with their kids, does that mean that we who are without munchkins of our own are the ones staying home providing all the candy?

Bah Humbug.

Oh well, here’s hoping you’re having a happy Halloween!

In my country, Halloween is becoming more popular.
Yesterday there was the Halloween costume contest and trick-or-treat event in my neighborhood.
I just saw kids trick-or-treat and needed to buy no Halloween sweets.

I must say I used to love Halloween and wasn’t so much in the mood to answer the door this year so I had hubby do it. I was feeling a bit down about the trick-or-treaters that never were.

    Bah Humbug is right.

Last night was the first time we’ve ever had trick-or-treaters knock on our door. My husband cheerily announced we had no lollies (that’s kiwi for candy), and told them to have fun. Fortunately, it’s not a big deal here in NZ. Yet.

We took our rottweiller to a Doggie Halloween party! It was fun to see all the other “parents” dress up their dogs in silly costumes. Afterwards, we just hid in the back of the house with the lights off so that no kids would come to the door to trick or treat. So I got to enjoy the costume part of the holiday without the kiddie part!

I decided to try and get in the spirit and at least buy candy. My husband insisted the two giant bags I bought wouldn’t be enough and went out and bought 4 more bags. We had exactly TWO trick-or-treaters, so now I have 10 pounds of candy in my house. I think next year I will just pretend to be out.
