My Family Car Stickers

November 4, 2010

I don’t know if these are popular where you are, but in my neighborhood, they’re everywhere. They used to annoy me. I begrudged the smug little families competing against one another for the glory of biggest, most interesting, or cutest family. Isn’t it enough that you have a family without having to parade them around as well?

Anyway, I’m over it now. When I take off my Baby Grinch hat, I have to admit that these stickers are pretty cute. What’s more, according to the company website, they’re only $2.99 a figure, which means that since my goldfish passed away last month, I can get my entire family—Jose, me, and the cat—for under $10!

Now that’s something to be smug about.

I’ve noticed these stickers starting to pop up all over the place. I think they are cute too, but in some ways they still hurt. I need to take off my Baby Grinch hat and just see them for their cuteness.

Thanks. She was murdered (well involuntary fishslaughter technically) by a well-meaning neighbor. She was 5 or 6, so she had a good long life. 🙂

Yeah, I pretty much hate them too. I can pull up to a stop light while singing my favorite tune on the radio and then “BAM!” there’s a happy family all up in my face screaming “we’ve got a family and you don’t!” Yeah….pretty much hate them.

Yeah, I’m not past feeling like they’re a little smug.

Well, screw ’em. When I go to grad school, maybe I’ll put a bumper sticker on my car and they’ll feel jealous.

When my hubby went back to school at 50, he made the Dean’s list. My friend made me a “My husband made the Dean’s list” bumper sticker. It was very cool. 🙂

These are very popular around here, too. But I did see one just last week that was a man, woman and the dog. I loved it and thought I should have taken a picture of it. I wanted to leave her a note and tell her that she rocked. I’d never seen that before.

I hate those damn stickers!!! I wouldn’t hate them if I didn’t have total kid jealousy…but since I do, I get annoyed each time I see one!

Maybe I should get one on my non-minivan, non-SUV sedan of me, the hubby, and three cats… 🙂

Been thinking about this too, Jodi, and I DARE anyone to ask me about it (she says, rolling up her sleeves and cracking her knuckles.)

I hate those things so much! But I found a *great* one at Michael’s (craft store) that’s a young woman in a short dress holding a martini glass, so that’s on my car now! It’s my own, tiny little moment of suburban subversiveness.
