How are you celebrating Valentine’s Day this year? Do you celebrate, or is it just another day you can’t get a seat in your favorite restaurant?
I had vowed to not be a holiday poop this year, but a friend moved their dinner party to this Saturday and mucked up my initial plans of a big Valentine’s get-together at our house. Now my dearly beloved is traveling on Monday, so my Plan B has taken a dive too.
Undeterred, I am planning to celebrate on Tuesday. I’d love to hear what you’re up to so I can steal all your best ideas and impress my lovey with my ingenuity. 🙂

I was offered the option of a pair of Christian Laboutin shoes (my name is Kate, I’m a shoe-a-holic) or dinner cooked for me by my husband. Amazingly, I chose the dinner. My husband is a fabulous cook – he’s a fireman os it’s almost required that he can cook. And besides that, we really need a new driveway, so no way can I imagine spending $800 on a pair of shoes. I will get those shoes one day. That’s one of the items on my “things I will indulge myself with because I can afford them since I can’t have children and they will momentarily make me feel better” list.

Hmm. No inspiration from me I’m afraid – Valentine’s isn’t really a big deal in NZ (although it is growing in popularity), AND our wedding anniversary was just last week (and we always celebrate that), so we don’t tend to do Valentine’s, other than maybe I’ll cook a nice meal if I’m in the mood!

We have stayed in and cooked an amazing meal every year, but this year, The Toasters are playing on Valentine’s Day here, and Dave really wanted to go. So we made reservations at a fancy restaurant, are going to get dressed up, eat our fancy dinner, and then go to the bar in our fancy clothes to see the band. Neither of us has EVER been out to a restaurant on Valentine’s Day (at least not that we can remember!).
