Kathleen sent me this photo forwarded from a friend, and I thought it would make a great Whiny Wednesday topic. So, here you go:
filling the silence in the motherhood discussion
~ "a raw, transparent account of the gut-wrenching journey of infertility."
~ "a welcome sanity check for women left to wonder how society became so fixated on motherhood."

Oh yes I love that alternative sign! Just because we don’t have a baby in our car doesn’t mean our lives don’t matter

Good one, I find no matter what you do in life it is like “the poor thing they have kids” yes it is rough but so is life without children.
My husband has medical issues & who is there for him at all this appointents? Me and me alone
so maybe it should be “the poor thing they dont have help”

I want to get one that says “dogs on board” but it’s true, we should be considerate drivers no matter if it’s a baby, pet, adult, or elderly person in the vehicle.

That is pretty funny! I wish I would have seen this a few years ago when I was really in the throws of infertility. Or the other one that cracks me up is we ate your stick family. All worth a chuckle!

Love that one! ‘Mmmm, your stick family was delicious!’

I hate those stupid baby on board, stick figures on cars. I got a decal for my back window about how my dog is smarter then their honor student. Like shouldn’t you drive carefully no matter what, do you think if someone sees those signs they’ll stay far away from your car?

Most epic and brilliant sign ever! love itttt

The purpose of these signs is debated – some think they encourage others to drive carefully, while others think they could alert emergency services that a child may be involved in the event of a crash. (Or are they parents just being proud/smug?) The problem with the accident scenario is that the sign stays there even if the car is used ‘sans baby’ – so they could actually endanger emergency services staff who ‘go back in’ to search for it. Also, the signs themselves can apparently obscure the driver’s view and cause accidents. Many perfectly good reasons to dislike these signs (ha)!

Love that sign! I saw a similar one that had two stick figures — a man & a woman — with a couple of bags of money. It made me laugh — although it did play into the stereotype that couples without kids are rolling in excess cash. :p
