A Cup of Tea with Jody Day

December 16, 2013

Jody DayOver the Thanksgiving weekend I got to sit down and have a cup of tea and a chat with another woman who’s walked a similar path to me and survived.

Unlike most cozy chats with a friend, this one was captured on video and now I get to share it with you.

Some of you will know Jody Day as the founder of Gateway Women in the UK and author of the new book: Rocking the Life Unexpected: 12 Weeks to Your Plan B for a Meaningful and Fulfiling Life Without Children. I sat down to talk with Jody about her book and her personal journey that led to its development.

If you’re not familiar with Jody, you’re in for a treat. So grab yourself a cuppa and settle in with us.

    Hi Lisa
Thanks so much for the chance to have this chat with you and thanks for taking the time to put it up on your website so that others can share. It is always such a relief and a pleasure to talk with another childless-by-circumstance woman who ‘gets it’!
One of the aspects of the ‘life unexpected’ I most cherish has been meeting a fabulous new peer group of women like you.
We may not be mothers but we’re here, we care, we count and we most definitely ROCK!!
    Thank you sister 🙂

Elena, we need to find a way to do that. It would be so great to sit down with a group of like-minded women and just chat.

yeah – I think you did something similar, at least with video messages from many women from the community, a while ago? Until you do, I’ll go figure out how skyper really works 🙂

Loved this! Ordered the book a week ago, can’t wait for it to arrive now. So lovely to see your beautiful smiles 🙂

I ordered the book and am looking forward to being able to hear the entire interview vs. the ten minutes on my work break. I know eventually I’ll be okay and it helps to find more role models/mentors and resources to try out.

My husband also shares some of this stuff as there isn’t anything we can find for me. (Plus, he would have been more “maternal” than me).

“In for a treat” is right — so great to see & hear from you both at the same time! 🙂 Love Jody’s Gateway Women blog & site. I just finished reading the book and it is FABULOUS — will be reviewing it on my own blog soon, but it is definitely a must-read for anyone who is walking this road less travelled.

Hello, what a good konversation! Exactly everything that I have in my head came up and like you said nobody understand what I am saying…I wonder if adoption was anything you considered at anytime, if it wasn’t, why not?

Hi Ladies, so pleased to find like minded people. So enjoyed your chat and frankness on this often taboo subject. Being childless can be a lonely life but sharing with people in the same boat will definitely help us all. Thank you. xx
