Kathleen sent me this photo forwarded from a friend, and I thought it would make a great Whiny Wednesday topic. So, here you go:
filling the silence in the motherhood discussion
~ "a raw, transparent account of the gut-wrenching journey of infertility."
~ "a welcome sanity check for women left to wonder how society became so fixated on motherhood."

Great sticker where can we get Them! I had a topic related to this , this week at work. A pregnant woman ahead of me in line was talking to the person taking here money. and I step up next in line, and the clerk an 40 yr old man says to me rember those times? I said no . And the. Goes on to say, you really don’t have any kids? I say no. He says well you seem the mothering type. I thought here’s a teachable moment but I be got nothing to say. I did say, you can be nurturing without being a mom. But the tone from him was your not a mom, . I know it’s ignorance, I get revved up about this and want to make a declaration like I’m still worth while even if I’m not a Mom. But after all this grieve and effort we made to be parents, you want to tell them F you. I’m open to feedback or quick responses when something like this happenings and love to all of you!

I’m all about co-opting parent stuff for subversive purposes, so a few years ago I bought one of those yellow triangle “Baby on Board” signs, covered the “Baby” part with yellow electrical tape, and wrote in black Sharpie marker, “I’m.” So my sign then read “I’m on Board.” What was interesting was how many men commented favorably on it. It made me wonder if men, whether they be dads or not, feel a similar societal disenfranchisement as women who aren’t moms? Then my car was rear-ended, and the collision company that repaired it had to replace the whole back end and threw out my sign in the process. So I went to Amazon.com and found a yellow triangle sign that reads “Adults on Board” in large letters and “We Want to Live Too” in smaller letters underneath. I’ve got it in my back window with the hope it’s making people think a little harder about the value they’re assigning the lives of those around them.

Oh those (insert swear word here) family stick figure car stickers.
I have enough reminders of what we donāt have without looking at them almost everywhere I drive.
This is nice, gave me a laugh.

When we first found out we couldn’t have kids my husband wanted to do this:

(part of his rebellion to what do you do if you don’t have kids questions)
